End of Year Donation Drive - May 20

End of Year Donation Drive - May 20

With the end of the school year comes the need to pack up your belongings and move off campus. If there are items you don't want to take with you, consider giving them a new life through the End Of The Year Donation Drive.

The sustainability office is working with the residence life office to send out information on what sort of things can be collected and donated to local non-profit organizations. Watch for that information to be delivered through your Resident Assistant.

Items will be picked up on Monday, May 20 by representatives of the following groups:
  • Students Against Hunger and Homelessness
  • Kappa Alpha Order
  • Pi Kappa Alpha
  • T.U.T.O.R.S.
  • Transylvania Theater Guild
  • TUnity
  • Transylvania Environmental Action League

This collection will provide a convenient way to donate gently used clothing, books, CDs, DVDs, cookware or unopened food or new school supplies to a local non-profit agency. Perhaps Students Against Hunger and Homelessness could use any peanut butter, jelly or sandwich bags for future HOPE Mobile Outreach programming. For more information, or for arrangement to pick up large items, contact the sustainability office at 233-8278.

Delivery to Diploma: Update

Delivery to Diploma: Update

Deliver to Diploma volunteers: We have been working at the old Johnson elementary for the past year, but that facility will become the location for the new STEAM Academy. Deliver to Diploma will need to find a new location.   We will not have a May project day to stuff the gift bags for families of new babies born in Lexington. Alice Nelson, Family/Community Liaison for Fayette County Public Schools said, “let all the faithful stuffers know how much we appreciate their help!!” Once D2D has a new location,  the project will continue. What are your thoughts? Know a good place to relocate Deliver to Diploma? Is this a project you would like to see continue with Transylvania’s involvement? Should this remain the signature project of the Staff Engagement Team? Send your thoughts to Mayme Clayton or Karen Anderson by May 17 .
