Lexington Rescue Mission Walk for Warmth - Feb 16, 2013
The
Lexington Rescue Mission is preparing for its 6th Annual Walk for
Warmth, Saturday, February 16th
from 9 a.m. to noon. The walk raises both awareness of the homeless
problem facing Lexington and funds for the mission’s Homelessness Prevention
Program. Transylvania students have participated in the past with this project,
so consider offering continued support. Natalie is also willing to come to
campus and speak with any student groups interested in participating in the
event. The Walk for Warmth to helps prevent homelessness in Lexington. The
money raised will support LRM’s Homeless prevention Program, which helps people
facing eviction or having their utilities shut-off. They work one-on-one with
families, not only giving financial help but providing budget counseling, case
management and referral services to other resources in the community.
The Walk for Warmth will be held on Saturday,
February 16th from 9 a.m. to noon, beginning at
Triangle Park the event will end at the Kentucky Theatre.
Free
parking is available on the street and in the transit center garage.
Prizes will be awarded to individuals and
teams who raise the most money through sponsorships and everyone who
participates will receive a free t-shirt.
All
proceeds will be used to help families in crisis.
