Kentucky Refugee Ministries - ASAP
March has been a little crazy at
Kentucky Refugee Ministries. They are welcoming 33 refugees and setting up 11
apartments this month! Supplies are running low and they are looking for
support and assistance.
Ways you can support these newly
arrived families:
·
Gift cards to Save-A-Lot, The Dollar
Store, or Walmart
·
Furniture and household items including
kitchen items, linens, cleaning products, and other supplies. One way to do
this is to ‘build boxes’ for the kitchen, bathroom, bedroom. KRM can provide lists for all of this.
·
Information about 2 and 3 bedroom
apartments available to rent. The
landlord must be willing to rent to tenants who are not yet in the country, and
apartments need to be affordable and on the Lextran bus line
·
Volunteers who wish to help set up
apartments or to provide transportation for a family for 2 or 3 weeks
·
Bicycles, computers, and cars are
always welcome. (Donors can take the Blue Book value as a tax deduction because
are donated directly to refugee families)
They have also recently welcomed
several refugees who are currently working through some serious medical issues
before they will be ready to work. Please do what you are able to rally
resources for refugees arriving in our community. For more information, contact
