United Way of the Bluegrass - Ongoing
The
United Way shared these service opportunities. Although they are advertised as
internships, they could be considered volunteer opportunities if you are not
interested in applying for them to count as an internship.
· United
Way’s Back On Track program is designed to help hardworking individuals succeed
by matching savings 2-to-1 through Individual Development Accounts (IDAs). If a
participant saves $2,000 in their own account to use toward buying their first
home, furthering their education, or starting/expanding a business they could
receive an additional $4,000 through this program. To learn more about this opportunity, contact Brandi Golebiewsk
· 2-1-1
is an information-and-referral service, available 24/7 in a multitude of
languages, designed to connect callers with available resources so people can
find food, housing, health care, volunteer opportunities, etc. Instead of
multiple calls leading to dead ends, with one call to 211, people can reach a
trained specialist who assesses a caller’s full scope of needs and matches them
to the right services. 211 also assists during times of disaster, providing
critical information about evacuation routes, food, and shelter. To learn more
about this opportunity, contact Brandi

· The
mission of Trailblazers is to mobilize volunteers, 55 years of age and older,
in Clark, Anderson, Scott, and Woodford county. These volunteers act as tutors
and mentors in schools and county programs in order to close achievement gaps
and improve student achievement in Central Kentucky. By helping a child succeed
in education, the Trailblazer volunteers are also working to improve their
future community by encouraging and supporting the development of these
children into productive adults. To learn more about this opportunity, contact Erin Faherty
