UWBG Call Specialist/Resource Update Specialist
United
Way of the Bluegrass is looking for a team of volunteers to assist 211 call
specialists with business and after-hours calls, as well as aid in updating our
resource directory. As a 211 volunteer, you will have the unique opportunity to
provide valuable direct and indirect services to those in need across Central
Kentucky. Volunteer duties will include contacting agencies and organizations
listed in the 211 directory by phone and/or email for information updates,
and/or handling calls that come in to 211. All volunteers will receive:
training from experienced UWBG 211 staff, access to additional community
engagement opportunities, supervision and support, a LIVE UNITED t-shirt, and
valuable resume experience.
• At least 18
years of age
• Dependable
person with a positive attitude and a desire to help others • Ability to multi-task work and well under pressure
• Effective computer and phone skills
• Reliable phone and internet access
All
volunteers will be required to complete mandatory orientation and training
sessions before they can begin as an after-hours call specialist. Each
volunteer will be given access to the 211 database, hardcopies of important
training materials, and a UWBG staff person’s contact information to use in
case of an emergency situation. While the time commitment we ask of each
volunteer will be negotiable depending on each person’s schedule and
availability, UWBG will ask each trained after-hours call specialist to sign a six
month commitment before they begin volunteering.
